Hanif is the founder partner of Board Alchemy, a specialist governance consultancy focusing on board, risk and assurance effectiveness. He is also co-founder of the Risk Coalition, a network of not-for-profit professional bodies and membership organisations committed to raising the standards of risk governance in the UK. The Risk Coalition published Raising The Bar, published in December 2019 to meet the need for high-quality, principles-based good practice guidance for board risk committees and risk functions within the UK financial services sector.
He is a member of the Audit & Risk Assurance Committee at the Department for International Trade and a member of the Audit & Risk Committee at the London Institute of Banking and Finance. He is also a member of the Boards of Southwark Cathedral Enterprises and Coram Beanstalk. Hanif was previously Chair of St Christopher’s Fellowship, a leading specialist charity for children and young people in care. These pro-bono roles have given him practical experience of dealing with ‘live’ governance issues and have helped him ensure the advice he gives his clients is leading-edge, practical and fit-for-purpose.
He is also an Honorary Visiting Fellow and visiting lecturer on corporate governance at the business school at City, University of London and has been a member of steering groups of the Financial Reporting Council’s Lab.
